Colby Kafer, a Greene County High School senior, is off to a fantastic start in the football season. Kafer was selected as the HyVee / KCCI Player of the Week for his exceptional effort in the Rams come-from-behind win over Nevada on Sept. 6.
Kafer amassed 361 yards of offense on 28 carries. He scored four touchdowns on runs of three, 57, 80 and 57 yards. That gave him a spectacular 12.9 yards per carry average.
He has already rewritten the Greene County High School records which he set earlier in his career. He is the all-time leading rusher with 1,971 yards (as of Sept. 7).
Kafer was leading the state in all classes with the best single-game rushing performance (through Sept. 7).
Friday, Sept. 13, wasn’t as big a night for Colby as he wasn’t needed as often in the Rams romp over Saydel. He still picked up 71 yards in limited action.
Kafer is quick to point out that his success is due to the hard work of his linemen, noting he just follows the blockers and the openings they create. ~courtesy of The Scranton Journal
